As a new year approaches, Dallas and District 1, in particular, are embracing ‘the new’ in several ways.
In October, we converted one of the tennis courts at Lake Cliff Park into a lighted, multi-use recreational court. The change has been enormously popular with kids in the area, especially those who are big on soccer.
And, earlier this month, the Dallas City Council officially hired our new city manager, T.C. Broadnax, who comes to us from Tacoma, Washington. I believe his ability to study problems in detail, and then craft innovative solutions to address those problems, will serve our city well.
What District 1 projects do we want in the next city bond package?
Right after New Year’s Day, I’ll be hosting two Town Hall meetings where we’ll explore what new District 1 projects we’d like to see included in the city’s next bond package. The next bond package is tentatively scheduled to go to a vote sometime in 2017.
Please join me as we review the projects for our area that city staff has recommended, and consider what final changes we may want to make to their list. Not all items on the list will be funded. So, in making your suggestions, be sure to indicate somehow which items you consider to be TOP priorities and which you consider to be SECONDARY priorities.
